The extra cover and keys trick. Nice. The scheduler in my first squaron would show up at 0730, make sure he was seen, and depart til after lunch. Then do his work from 1300 to well after the CO left, making sure he was seen by the commander as he left.
Another good trick is walking around with a Blue folder with a privacy act sticker on it. Its a great place to keep a crossword, usa today, or other diversion.
