So as a new hire in a job that hundreds of others would love to be at this person is complaining about what airplane he’s flying? Sounds like a miserable person just looking for a fight. Be gone and find someone else to fill this slot who appreciates what and where they’re at. When he was a kid was he always complaining his sibling got a better Christmas present? Seriously, there are much bigger issues to be addressed and this is NOT one of them. If this person is complaining about his situation as a brand new hire there are other airlines hiring with more varied narrowbody fleets and other pilots happy to fill your slot here at FDX. It’s like commuting on a offline Jumpseat. I don’t care what seat as long as I have a seat to work or go home. I don’t complain I didn’t get an exit row or first class seat. You take what you can get and maybe next time it’ll be different, but in the mean time be thankful and humble for what you have. You don’t have much investment here so you can start over somewhere else.

Hired in 2016 and this was the practice at the time. We received a call asking if we’d like an MD (FDA Was probably similar but our class didn’t have any FDA slots). Typical response, “Yes”. By saying yes you were being hired directly to a wide body airframe at FDX and we didn’t know what aircraft would be available in a drop or when we would be called for a class. You didn’t say no because you didn’t want to find out what was behind the “No Door”. MD folks showed one day early and thus we had seniority over others who started the next day. No one complained. We were all very happy to be hired at FDX. But I guess when your ego is tied to the plane you fly you’ve lost perspective and cry about it.

If he was called and asked if he’d accept a specific position and said “Yes” I don’t see what the issue is. There’s no way to know if he’d have been in that same class if he said no.
