Hey buddy,
Like I mentioned in my PM, all things being equal (CFI skills, good syllabus, your natural ability, effort spent studying and preparing for the lessons, at least 3 scheduled lessons per week, etc.) the cost will mostly depend on the location and equipment.
Training in a fairly modern/well equipped airplane in a busy metropolitan area will take you closer to the $12k-15k range. On the other hand, rural areas and/or older airplanes will usually offer cheaper rates where you could potentially get your private under $10k.
Very important that you take a conservative approach to budgeting prior to starting. Better to wait a bit longer and have the bulk of it saved up than start early and have to stop because you ran out of funds.
