This was before our time but there was a time in the 80's when AA was firing on all cylinders. Seemed like every year they were announcing a major order for new (not replacement) aircraft.
I mean this announcement is cool and all but doesn't really seem to do a lot for hiring. I think that was all his point is.
But, still cool. I really hope these destinations stick. More successful destinations and they might start ordering more aircraft. Who knows. Doug hasn't presided over an expanding airline, really, ever. From CEO at AWA just prior to 9/11, he's had a rough two decades.
