Go to my local Fedex Office store and ship a 2lb item in a standard Fedex box. The rep weighs it, labels it and hands me the receipt which shows a shipping charge of $15 charged to my employee shipping acct. A week later my credit card (attached to my Fedex employee shipping acct) gets charged $32 for shipping! I tried to go online to resolve, but no way to email or call customer service. I started an online chat, but that was wrong department and they gave me the number to call. The agent said that the $15 was a “down payment” and the real charge comes later when they assess the package. I can understand the assessment on a non-standard sized box, but this was a Fedex box and they knew the weight- what’s left to assess?

Do our customers get the same “We don’t know what the final cost will be” at FedEx Office?

This has happened more than once, am I missing something?
I had this happen a couple of months ago. Went online to my credit card and contested the charge. Still had the receipt as proof. They credited my card to the correct amount. I didn’t even attempt to deal with FedEx. I found it’s best just to pay upfront, it avoids this issue.
