I was on the fence about the 16 day trips. While I haven’t been here very long, my wife and two young daughters love it. Sure, by day 10-12, it’s time to GTFOH, but as was previously mentioned, the 2 weeks off is amazing.
Honestly, the 16 days is pretty easy for me. I work. Eat. Sleep. See a new country. The time flies (ha) for me, but for the spouse at home with kids in sports, she stays busy. It takes a strong and dedicated spouse to handle that.
I came from a regional where I commuted for 14+ years. 4 on 2 off. 4 on 3 off. Commute home, wash clothes, re-pack, check hourly to see if a more commutable trip popped up in company open time, commute back to work. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. No-friggin thanks.
I only have to say bye once a month, pack once a month, etc.
When I was reading through hundreds of threads before making the decision to come to K4, I kept reading posts that said what a “hidden gem” it is here. I’m starting to understand that!
