All due respect to you, Name User, there are many newly hired or soon to be hired that do not understand bidding and seniority processes. The “basic stuff” is knowing how to fly.
Bidding and seniority is not “basic stuff” when someone is getting ready to start. Once you are in, it becomes basic stuff. People have a tendency to forget that.
Think about learning to drive a car. When one starts out, they regularly “climb the curb” when making a right turn. Once they become experienced, it becomes basic stuff, and they forget where they were when they were just starting.
