A press release is written by your PR department, it is not an editorial article written by an outside author. It says exactly what the company wants it to say, nothing more and nothing less.
Plus, the same release is on Mesa’s website under the Investor Relations section. That means it has to be accurate by law, since Mesa is a publicly traded company. It is not hearsay, it’s not a “media story”, it’s not what someone’s friend says. The aircraft will be owned by Mesa, there’s no question about that.
That doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a different order. United could have just as well transferred their order to Mesa. I am assuming that if that’s the case, United will also have to come out with some sort of press release to their investors.
