No, I don’t think the rules have changed. What I was trying to say was, that you will need to do a type rating course if you want to do the checkride in “your” aircraft. I did the same- found a shortened type rating course with Pan Am in MIA. Was just 3 days of ground school and 2 SIMs. But still costs more than the Seneca checkride. I’m happy I did it that way because then you already have a good type rating on your FAA certificate which might be helpful to get a call.
