I am in the market for new headphones and have decided to upgrade from standard in-ear to noise cancelling over ear. I am debating between the Bose QC 35 and the Sony WH-1000XM3. They retail for about the same price but the Sony is rated higher.
I currently use a Telex 850 in the plane and it has worked great in everything I've flown. I will be displaced to the 737 (as of now) next year and I know it is a loud cockpit.
My question comes down to buying the Sony and sticking with my Telex for the plane or going with the Bose and eventually get the Ufly mic for the plane.
I appreciate the advice!
Anecdotally, I feel like the Ufly mic itself introduces a lot of ambient noise into the hot mic on the 737. I much prefer flying with someone using the Bose A20, which seems to produce much less white noise and makes it a better experience for both pilots. I feel like the David Clark ANR headsets also produce excessive noise from the mic. I've never seen any data on this though...
