Sad news. When people were asked worldwide how many in their country had died of coronavirus, the response was 9%. They think 9% had died from it, about 225x the estimate.

Every "news" editor knows you can't run a headline of, "
Breaking News: 0.04% of our population has succumbed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus." You'd get laughed out of town, and viewership and sponsors would drop like a rock; especially when compared to your media competitors, who lead with total number of deaths, or worse, total number of "confirmed" cases.
