The Jr Captains I know in DFW came in as returning employees or with prior 121 time from another airline. But I notice the Jr CA on the 737 has a very high Sr number and could get caught as well. (Initial Cadre Pilot)
It's clear the company doesn't WANT to spend the money to keep people not flying but they only have two plays in the play book and the MEC said no to one of them. A PSP extension would change the game. But only if it's GRANTS, and somehow I don't think that's in the cards.
Interesting thing in all this is that the company is still reporting profits. Furloughs could, due to the training events triggered, cause those profits to swing to losses. I believe Mesa is the only passenger airline in the world with a Q2 profit. I am sure JO is being extremely careful not to blow that.
