Barely won the election, only gained a few seats in the House, and not taking the majority in the Senate. So yes, the radical left definitely had a negative impact on the election for the Democrats. You pushed enough swing voters to pick the lessor of two evils and that is Trump and a Republican slate over the policies of the radical left.

I think the operative point here is that both parties are wearing their fringe element on an anchor chain around their necks while most Americans would like to operate with both mains straddling centerline. The primary process has made it impossible for mainstream views to win nominations.
