depends on the carrier. United has a hiring process in partnership with alpa. An alpa pilot sits on the interview panel and has a vote on the candidate. Honestly, with the milenials running hr who have zero understanding of what a pilot does, it’s good to have someone with experience on the review board. The only things hr knows is “ did you volunteer at a leper colony recently?... you did?! Great you’re hired!”
