Genocide is depressingly common, and insanely well documented. The "Never Again!" slogan sounds nice, but ......

Red Famine: Stalin's War on Ukraine - Anne Applebaum

Mao's Great Famine: The History of China's Most Devastating Catastrophe -Frank Dikotter, a truly fascinating fellow

Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda-Romeo Dallaire, (UN force commander in Rwanda powerless to stop it)

Three genocides within living memory, or at most one generation removed. I doubt one in a hundred random people in the US would know what you were talking about. "Deniers", in this context, are just willfully ignorant; so wrapped up in cognitive dissonance they can't see the forest for the trees.

Books help.
Not too long ago....Cambodia....1975...the killing fields of the Pol Pot regime...about 1.4 million executed...another approx 1 million starved to death out of a population of 8 million. Pretty sobering. You don't even have to be a Boomer to have been alive for this....and nobody stopped it.

I highly recommend a "walkabout" to Angkor Wat and include Phnom Penh and the "killing fields"....that is ...when we reach herd immunity and we can travel again.
