Care to expound on the LTD/STD provisions (here or privately)? What amount is company funded, is there a buy up, is there a medical exam required for coverage, is it own-occupation, are there income offsets, what is the coverage duration, etc?
The policy at my current employer covers anything, including preexisting conditions, but only after a certain term of participation. Our max duration of combined STD/LTD benefits is 48 months.
ALPA's better LTD plan (benefit to age 65) requires an insurability survey that presents a challenge for those with any preexisting conditions.
It's alot to go into but it's better than all of that....prior to this new contract...LTD went until 67...two yrs after the 65 med out. I have not looked at the new contract to see if it changed. I was out for a yr and it was 10k a mo..at that time, no med exam, 14 days to STD for 6 mo, then LTD until 67.
