My two cents - when covid first hit we honored our CJO’s and valued our newest members of the family. We did the right thing and have a bunch of new hires on hold in training. That’s our logjam. UAL did the opposite. They cancelled classes and left their newest family members to fend for themselves. Supposedly they have 200-300 pilots on hold for the past year. So for them resuming hiring is like us resuming training.
we did this for like 3 classes (~100 pilots). I’m very glad we did don’t get me wrong, and I think it showed reall class on the company’s part, but I don’t think this is what is causing us to have a training backlog.
