I understand the riddle, but I don't like the wording because it literally forces you away from choosing the match. A better structure would be:
You’re in a cabin and it’s pitch black. Around you there is a newspaper, a lamp, a candle, and wood in a fireplace. You have one match on you. Which do you light first?
This one supports jumping past the match to find the answer. Slow down and it becomes obvious. A simple, but good riddle.
