Part 2:
DALPA: “Hey guys, we just made this sweet deal with Ed and we think you’ll be really happy. 2% raises for everyone! But it’s just one time. And Skywest gets to fly 737s.”
Delta Pilots: “No way. Scope is never for sale. Especially for a crummy 2%.”
DALPA: “Well we have it in writing that we are guaranteed to keep 75% of our narrow body flying. That’s industry-leading Scope right there!”
Pilots: “But we already have industry-leading Scope. Hard no.”
DALPA: “ But Ed says Skywest won’t actually be flying 25% of our narrow body ASMs. It’s not in his plan.”
Pilots: “If he doesn’t plan on doing it, then why does he want us to give up 25% in writing?”
DALPA: “Hmm, wish we asked him that.”
Pilots: “This deal is an insult! We want a recall!”
Ed: “By the way, I’m doing it anyway. Skywest already has FAA approval for their 737 program and the planes are already on the way to Salt Lake.”
Pilots: “That’s a huge violation of our CBA and we’re taking you to arbitration!
Ed: “I thought you’d say that, so I’ve already got a hearing scheduled with that arbitrator from the Jetblue grievance.”
Pilots: “That guy? Well, crap. Just give us our 2 percent.”
