Was told I had this my whole life but now that I am older eye muscle cant compensate anymore. I have report of eye eval in hand( been doing Eval for 20 years) 2nd class medical is due and scheduled. Anyone have any experience with this. Will AME defer to OKC ? Thanks for any input
I have alternating exophoria and got a 1st class. I’ve had 2 eye muscle surgeries too. No SODA, no special issuance. As you said, this is a lifelong condition. Luckily no double vision ever, which was a key factor in my quick approval. I can’t pass the binocular vision test with the music notes and line through it. As a side note, the 3rd class medical doesn’t even test binocular vision.
I specifically went to a senior AME who’s also an ophthalmologist. He’s one of the FAA’s contacts for these cases so his opinion held a lot of weight.
