You are ignoring the nonresponse by the west all of the weeks prior to Putin's invasion where he massed troops on the border.
No aid sent, nothing.
Or the lack of a meaningful response when they took the Crimean in the first place…That and the ever growing dependence of Europe on Russian oil and gas pretty well green-lighted current problems.
