Given how DL talks extensively about their hiring needs, if this policy is true, it is extremely shortsighted and petty. It won’t bring folks back from a LCC, and could even solidify their likelihood to remain where they are. The sweet irony is that, for many, LCC + one year penalty box still comes out ahead of the current flow times.

I suppose time will tell if this is attrition control propaganda or policy. Anyone else seeing this in practice?
I left 9E for B6 and currently have a CJO at DL. Lots of other factors to consider on their end I’m sure, but it worked out for me. I know another person who followed an identical path and applied to DL immediately after starting at B6 and is now in class at Delta. I waited 6 months and got a response in a week when I updated my app with my new employer and type. If there is pettiness I haven’t seen it. I’d say that rumor is an attempt to keep to keep pilots on property, or just made up. Like you said, even if it’s true, it is still a quicker path for anyone less than half way up the list at 9E to bail and bet on themself. If they don’t get a call at least they are building seniority at a solid airline.
