Unless you understand queuing theory. Unless you understand that every CA who leaves without sitting in the left seat for 1000 hours undermines the total flights that can be scheduled in the future because they haven’t hung around long enough to provide 1000 hrs of SIC time to some FO that the company will need upgrade eligible to replace that departing CA. And for the FOs, it’s almost worse, because they will disproportionately be the more senior ones, who will take with them their 121 SIC hours - however many of them they have - to that ULCC with them.

No amount of new hires with 0 121 time can replace the departing CAs at all. Who’s going to sit in the left seat next tonthe new hires long enough for them to get 1000 hrs and upgrade eligible? Assuming they don’t leave for a better offer before that happens?

Seriously, why do you think OO is looking at 135 ops? You really think they want to derate 50 seat CRJ-200s to 30 pax just to give pax more leg room?
