Since people are wildly speculating, here's one:
After the company's long campaign to drag the process out results in an overwhelming strike vote, they dispatch all the "Bobs" to a summit-esque meeting in Raleigh. This, however, is just part of the long game. Careful monitoring of social media during the week of this summit will reveal how tired the pilots are, and how eager they are to jump for an AIP. Additionally, stirring the pot in this manner causes all kinds of speculations about acceptable deals to bubble to the surface, providing vital intelligence as to the bottom line of the pilot group.
Hardly less farfetched than many things I've read, and if you think they don't heavily monitor social media, you would be mistaken. I, for one, would certainly tip my hat with a "well played" to management if they were actually so clever as to do this.
