We must operate at two separate companies. Never had pressure to do something I’ve raised concerns about. I’ve never had a dispatcher who didn’t work with me. I have had tech ops do some stupid things or not be able to diagnose something, or misdiagnose it, but nothing crazy. And, the FOM pretty much prohibits a guy with 1 year of airline experience and 2,000tt from being a captain at jetblue, so there’s that.

That being a captain here is not like anywhere else. Our operation, leadership, support systems, scheduling, and dispatch all lend very little support to us. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to fight to have a safe route of flight planned, fight about dispatching to an airport that won’t be open, deal with “tech stops” that aren’t tech stops. MEL’s with route restrictions etc. All while being pressured by someone sitting in an office chair to get the job done while being hours to days behind schedule. You need to be able to completely operate on your own with limited resources available. Now throw a guy/girl in that seat with 1 year of airline experience and 2000TT… It’s not a simple as throwing on a new set of epaulets.
My experience here has been similar to what you described above. I do acknowledge that not all of our pilot group feels this way, some feel less stressed. It may differ due to base/seat/equipment. But those are often also the ones who I have to routinely remind the glide slope is out, "yeah our efp is definitely not straight out", or "I m not sure I d fly through that", you get the idea. That's what I meant by ignorance is bliss. You seem like you actually check what the dispatcher files, reads the notams, is a little bit more proactive when the weather is bad and the alternate is worse............. it is frustrating no matter how many times you tell ops you are negative APU, they will still give you a gate with no External power............because.........well because of suck.
