Now, I'm young, and don't know much, but I thought that the RTO on the 737s set the brakes to MAX autobrakes if power is set to idle, which includes reverst thrust, so if the pilots saw that the plane was not deaccellerating properly, couldn't they just set autobrakes to RTO and thrust to idle?
