As said earlier, this is absolutely spot on. If the company had its way, all the pilots on property would be stuck at first year pay. Obviously they can't do that. So, the next best thing then is to have a revolving door where many first years strangely resign just before they would have hit much juicier 2nd year pay (which the company bitterly resents).
