They really aren't even good for checking. In the early 00s, they were one of the only banks doing internet banking. In 2026, you can't get any number of bank accounts with internet access, free ATM fees, mobile deposit, etc, that is a much better quality than USAA. There are also plenty of banks now that offer high yield checking accounts as well. The only reason I stayed as long as I did is because I had them so long and switching bank accounts was "the unknown" I didn't want to have to deal with. I'm so glad i did.

True. I remember mailing in checks back in the day. Now they're all the same with mobile deposit and all. I'm sticking with the checking because I have about 1 gazillion things either direct deposit or direct debit and it's too painful to switch. Tho, when Citi sends me those "Get $1,000 by opening a checking and savings account" I hold onto it for a few days.
