Yes seniority counts, but someday those who are displaced across country will be leading the charge and you want all pilots to feel connected and not forgotten.
The kompany is going to do jack and sh!t about the displacements simply because we as a group settled for exactly that. This is an unprecedented situation. Nobody saw it coming. Expecting grace and goodwill where none is demanded in writing is foolish. The company simply doesn't care. We did this to ourselves. I don't mean to be a jerk about it, just trying to set expectations.
1. The company doesn't care about you.
2. At least half of the pilot group is so busy counting their own money that they don't even know there is an issue.
Go down to the Orlando pilot lounge on a sit sometime and strike up a conversation with one of the guys hovering around looking for free pbj sandwiches. It's eye opening.
Nobody is coming to anyone's rescue. The only solution is patience. We have 900 new hires coming to fill the void.
Next contract I will advocate to make this situation so painful for the company that they won't be able to do it. I am senior enough that it doesn't affect me, but I care about the young and unborn SWA babies. I did the same with new hire and junior FO pay and reserve improvements. Didn't benefit me in the least.
Until then...
