A reasonable expectation would be that you'll get to know at least a couple pilots who get to the majors before you. Keep your options open, a lot of times the keys to getting a good job are good timing and knowing someone.
Keeping your options open might also include finding opportunities outside of the part 121 world. The majority of pilots leaving my base recently have gotten air ambulance jobs and seem pretty happy about it.
