Overall, the e-mails we have received in C44 are very ambiguous on "scope." No one has explained how unity would be restored, or how we would have Delta pilots performing more Delta flying. Your thoughts are requested on the following issues:

(1) Unity - what does this mean to you as an ALPA Representative?
(2) As a ALPA Representative, what does the term "fiduciary duty" mean to you?

(3) Scope:
-Restoration, recapture 76 seat flying?
If yes, then how?
(4) Representation
-Compass, in or out?
(5) Flow through agreements? Yes / No

Other issues, such are compensation, retirement and insurance all have similar answers, but if you have a differing platform that helps distinguish your positions from the status quo, we'd sure like to know.

I will not reply, or debate, unless asked to provide my answers. This is your forum. Thank you for sharing your positions.

No problem. I would rather not have my name published here for the same reason that you don't. Suffice to say, that mine was the first blast mail that you received. All necessary contact information is there. I have made myself available through a couple of other outlets as well.

1) Unity--I'll save posting the definitions. Unity is key. No question about it. It is everything.

2) Fiduciary duty--You'll have to forgive me, but it is a term largely used in a negative connotation. It is also a term heralded in the legal world as grounds for legal action. I certainly do not appreciate its use here, as I think it is hugely premature. Let me throw a few more terms out there ofen used in conjunction with fiduciary duty: skill, care, diligence, honesty, full disclosure. If we can speak to those terms, I will be more than happy to address them. I think that those traits are imperative in a rep. I will take issue with the "full disclosure"--as reps are subject to NDAs. that does not mean, however, that timely, comprehensive communication cannot be effective. As for whether or not, I possess those traits, well, I think that I do. I take the onus of this position very seriously, and I invite you to ask around. If you like what you hear, write my name down. If you don't like what you hear, don't.

3) 76 seat flying. Scope is an issue near and dear to my heart since my American Eagle days. It is section 1 for a reason. It seems as if it is finally starting to attract the attention which it deserves. I would like to use our unity to capture, recapture, and redefine scope in our favor at every opportunity. The same goes for the rest of the sections of our contract. Exactly how to do it involves leg work, paperwork, and sweat equity. The exact process involves more than one person, and a public forum is not the place for such a discussion. People with no need to know or differing agendas do not need such information. I would be happy to talk to you verbally at your leisure about such strategy. One last thing, lest we forget, there are scope issues at the other end of the spectrum which are just as important. Unity and fiduciary responsibility require that we address those issues with every bit of aggressiveness and diligence as well.

4) Representation. My gut tells me: Compass IN. I have not been a party to the meetings where the Compass discussion has been in play. From what I gather, they are eager to be a part of the Delta MEC. A wholly owned with truly altruistic motives is a good thing, and provides more of that unity which I think will more than offset any negative that comes with it.

5) Flow through agreements--have saved between 500-2000 furloughs on Delta property. I have nothing to back that up other than "connecting the dots." It has provided an important stop gap for what I hope will become less and less of an issue going forward.

This doesn't have to be a debate. It is an exchange of ideas. That's part of the reason that I am running. I believe that we may be having less and less of an exchange of ideas within our union as of late. Some may disagree, and that's fine. It's not about me, it never is. In that light, let me know if I did not answer you questions satisfactorily.
