Call me a pessimist, but I don't think that there will be a "new normal". We as a consumer society have short memories and once the economy picks up heads back to
irrational exuberance, people will buy crap they can't afford and/or don't need by extending credit. Financial wizards will think of new loopholes and scams. etc. In other words, it'll be business as usual.
