If you are going to be in DTW for a month or two dont waste time getting the SIDA badge unless your heart desires. Not worth it.
FWI. You can get a discount at all Choice Hotels. There is a Delta/Delta Connection Discount of 25% off
I disagree with the Clarion. If you get into one of the crashpads there, its easy to get to and from, pretty clean, and has breakfast in the morning. Overall, it has been one of my better crashpad situations. If you'd like, I can get you in touch with the guy who runs the crashpad I was in. Cheap and effective!
Also, COMPLETELY disagree with the SIDA badge comment. You really need one if you're gonna be on reserve to get down to the crew room. Its way more of a PITA to hope that someone can escort you to the crew room than to take a little time to go do the SIDA badge office. What else do you have to do if you're on reserve?
