Hi Everyone this is my first thread, I currently have a class date with AW starting august 5th. hoping to get some insight on AW on how the bonuses are paying out if so at all.

How long is the training from start to finish with the ATP-CTP

In addition are new FOs aactually flying? how often is a flight cancelled or maintenance out or do most generally go out on time?

Bonus - 5K on first check after INDOC starts. If you do ATP you may have one extra check before the rest of your INDOC class. Don’t expect bonus on that one. 26K after you complete IOE. 10K one year anniversary. 2500 each quarter in year 3 if not yet upgraded. Not sure when the type bonus pays - I think with IOE bonus.

Times - 2 weeks for ATP, 2 more for INDOC, 2 more for Systems. As little as 3-4 days or as much as 7-10 off. 3 weeks for CPT (1 week) and your 10 sims (2 weeks). 2-3 days off. 4 day IOE trip. 2-3 days off, 4 day IOE trip.

This is all best case. Most need extra sims - add 2-3 weeks if so for waiting and to actually do them. Most need 1 extra IOE or more. Add 6 days for each. So best case 3 months. Just about the same as all regionals.

Yes you will fly on reserve. Every single day plus.

United and AWA hate to cancel. Still happens though. Weather, MX or staffing. You are pay protected so it doesn’t matter.

Thanks for the help, my biggest fear is that the company will belly up wit an old fleet and very few pilots, are they able to keep with United’s contract is my wonder. Being a private company we can’t really see the profits being made.

There are great reasons to come here and great reasons to avoid here. Lossing the just signed 5-7 year CPA and/or going belly up is not one of the latter.

There are 3 UAX carriers with fewer pilots and A/C on CPAs with UA than AWA has.

And as far as old fleet goes - UAX as a whole has 300ish -200s and 145s so they are fine with old 50 seaters.

And as far as money goes - the TA, albeit not what most here wanted - does have millions in money in the next 15 months. That shows both that the company has cash and is spending “some” of it. If you were closing up you wouldn’t be doing that.

If your going to not come here don’t not come for this reason.

Seems like someone else is happy with this crap of a t/a,trying to justify his yes vote .
You can try and clean it up anyway you want it’s still crap and deserves to be shot down so that it sends ATW a clear message.

What are your thoughts on air Wisconsin and who would ou reccommend, I currently have a lot of fellow instructors that took the republic and Skywest route.

That is not at all what I intended to imply. He was concerned that we would go “belly up” or loss the UA contract. In reference to the TA my point was 1; the company has money, and 2; if they thought they were going to go belly up or loss the contract they wouldn’t spend it in the next 15 months.

My opinion stated was most pilots do not think the TA goes far enough and I added a fact that the TA has a cost to the company in the millions. After you take out the approx 150 pilots hired after Dec 2016, management and instructor pilots, and those on LOAs, I’d say about 350 left. Times that by the bonus is just short of 3 million. Pro or anti TA - this statement can’t be argued. You can and should argue it’s not nearly enough for this market, does nothing to attract new hires and that company can certainly afford more considering they quadrupled the bonus at the 11th hour.

It just seems a stretch to take my 2 comments on the TA as me being a “yes”. Don’t you agree that most pilots you talk to/post on Facebook/APC/airwillly find it to be too little? I’d say 70/30 against?

As a said to him there are good things and bad things about AWA but of all the actual problems here I just don’t feel his concern is one to be worried about. And the TA is just one of many reasons I think that.

1. How long would a new hire be in reserve?
2. How often would they schedule you for long call or short call reserve?
3. When does the schedule for bidding come out?
4. How many hours (high and low) can you fly in a month?

1. I am relatively new and somewhat fresh off IOE. November-December hires went straight to line holders. January hires are still on reserve. Looking at about 90 days of reserve after IOE at the moment.

2. No long call reserve, only short call. Typically I have been called after 6pm the night before a reserve day and been given a trip with report time. Sometimes as early as a 4:45a show time.

3. Typically the second week or middle of the month. Captains get to bid early. Once completed, FO's take their turn. Bids are usually completed about the 20th of the month.

4. Flying is, of course, kept within FAR 117 limits. 100 hours per rolling month and 1000 hours per rolling year. 1000/12= about 83 hours per month. AW pays a 75 hour minimum. I've seen bid lines with as little as 65 hours in a month and as much as 90 hours. What you actually get paid for is higher (credit hours) based on before/after flight duty, deadheads, etc. My flying last month was right around 80 hours, but I credited 120 hours so I got paid for the higher amount.

1. IAD 10 months. ORD 2-3 months. MKE 1 month or less. All from end of IOE that is.
2. Long call.....Lol. All short. Assignment around 1800-1900 CST night prior. If no assignment then a time your RAP starts. Reserves fly all the time so expect that.
3. Mid month the month prior. It closed and We got theJuly results this past Monday mid day (FO). Came out for bidding a week ago today. CA timeline the same but one week earlier each month.
4. Line holder I range from 60-80 block. Credit 85-120. A few months close to 140 credit with 85 block. Reserve was 50-60 block, 90-100 credit. Block is lower as reserves have more deadheads.
