I’m not slandering the union at all. We had some awesome reps over the years I was at AWAC. But the new guard doesn’t seem as effective as the old guard was. JB and SK in PHL was fantastic and always available to assist the pilots in many ways. Couldn’t say the same for BB in ORD.
After 8 years and no strike vote? Obviously pilots want pay increases and without them, they’ll vote no.
I had one or two issues where a rep would say “sorry nothing I can do for you.”
I once got an UNAV for declining a junior man assignment and they wouldn’t fight for me.
Oh well. It is what it is.

I was glad to see your post concerning AW. I have two sons (Vero Beach & Las Vegas) that will be going to the regionals about this time next year. I told them to do the the flying, and that I would do the research for their decision. They will not be going to the same regional.
It's like family CRM. Of course the industry is fluid, so it will be somewhat different 12 months from now; however, all of the information that I will digest in the mean time will be beneficial. In reading multiple sites, several factors seem to stand out: Management sucks, training standards are marginal, and the company will lose its flying since all of their RJ's will be impacted by their marketing agreement. LOL.

Training standards are high and any regional will be impacted if their mainline partner goes a different direction. Plenty of reasons for one place over the other but I’d dig a little deeper.

You realize that you described literally every regional airline with this statement, right?

Are you saying legacy airlines are putting their passengers on planes flown by pilots that are held to marginal standards?

Air Wisconsin is known for having standards that are high, in many cases higher than what most would consider “fair.”

I believe that’s what the general tone of this thread has been. The “marginal standards” statement by the former naval aviator that goes by “ok 3 wire” (despite clearly being a helicopter parent) is most likely alluding to the concerns some have voiced about how new pilots here are evaluated. Try to keep up. I know it’s tough without autothrottles and VNAV.

Please let your kids choose where they want to go. Please stop hovering over them. They will be fine. You are doing them more of a disservice right now. You may think you are helping but long term you are damaging their decision making skills. In fact it may already be too late.

Yeah, I can picture the interview now:

Interviewer: “so why did you choose our airline?”

Applicant: “well, I’m not really sure. I did all the flying, while my dad evaluated my choices. He came to the conclusion that your airline was best for me.”

If you come to AWAC, you’ll fly your ass off. And you’ll fly with some great crews. But like every single regional out there, AWAC has its problems such as staffing, mechanical, extensions and junior manning to name a few. The grass may look greener, but sooner or later you’ll have to mow it.
