It is an honest question to be asked when the person in charge of providing the flights that put money in your pocket to your employer has been changed.

Considering Kirby has been regarded as and is a self-proclaimed numbers guy it could be good short term for the regionals if Kirby increases contract flying. For the guys looking to get out that could be a bad thing if more routes are moved to regionals and it causes hiring to at UA to slow a bit.

There's also the other side of the coin that say that Kirby is the one truly responsible for getting UA to where they are now since he was hired and running the operational strategy.

To my original post, I simply wanted to stir the pot to get dialogue going on about what we all think Kirby might do and how it might affect ZW short and long term.

I don't have a crystal ball, so I don't know how long I'll be here but you can be damn sure that I care about the short term and long term issues that affect my employer regardless of my exit strategy.
No need to explain yourself. It was a legitimate question, that all uax regionals should be asking themselves right now. Pay no attention to these young whipper snapper CFI’s who think they’ll all be at mainline before they get their 1000 hours.

Pray it doesn’t happen. I lived through the lost decade at a UAX carrier and came to UA in August. Every single line pilot is for tightening scope, not relaxing scope.

Now someone is going to chime and say they the senior UA pilots will sell us new hires down the road. Not true. They have witnessed first hand what RJ’s did to our industry

How is everyone at ZW feeling after the UAX fleet shuffle yesterday?

Better now that the economy is tanking...remember the last downturn?...ZW gave Discount Dougie the money to buy AA!

My bet is on ZW buying GoJet from a nearly bankrupt TSH in 3-6 months with UAL money.

Some dude on Facebook was spouting off about ZW and Commuair being gone in the next six months. Saying UAL wants to get rid of all the -200s. Claimed to have insider info. Confirmed he works for XJT.

"At a time when we need to fly each of our airframes to their fullest potential, we are facing a Captain shortage that will result in an inability to meet our increased productivity objectives and even our current contractual flying obligations."

From the TSA memo, sounds familiar

Not gonna happen .
I see zw being absorbed by sky west or xjt just for the pilots and parking the old tired beat up planes . Some more bad news and shuffling around is coming, it isn’t over . Due to the fact that we have a product that they don’t want anymore, the writing is on the wall .

Fixed it for you.

No regional airline is buying any other regional airline for anything other than physical assets. OO would fly those things between Detroit and Pellston until an engine fell off.

yeah, if anything the fact that TSA just let a whole pilot group scatter into the wind dispels the notion that pilots are worth buying.
