Default ATL to CAE commute for a new hire FO?

Does anyone have experience with an ATL to CAE commute if I were to join AirWis? Delta has 7 to 9 daily trips each way. I live on the north side of Atlanta. So a 190 mile drive is also an option.

You tried to apply with Endeavor yet? Why commute to a carrier with dinosaur 200’s?

^^^ Endeavor or Skywest first. If those dont work out, commuting ATL-CAE wouldnt be the worst commute in the world. However, CAE is a maintenance base and you may have flights start before and end after your commuting flights.

9E has 42 CRJ-200s
OO has 202 CRJ-100/200s

ZW has 64 CRJ-200s

...and you are saying to go to 9E or OO to avoid the -200.

Regardless don’t chose an airline based on equipment.

I chose ZW in spite of the “dinosaur 200’s.” Life is more than equipment.

The main point here is don’t commute unless you have to.

The Air Wisconsin 200’s are some of the oldest out there. Heck, they even have an early CRJ-100 frame.

Endeavor has better pay and should be around for the foreseeable future. Not to mention a better training department.

As others said, CAE is a MX base sport early shows and late finishes.

Pot meet kettle? I’m going off personal experience. The 200 / 145 carriers with only 50 seaters will be hard to staff in the future. That means upheaval.

When I was air Air Wisconsin, I commuted from Roswell. It was about at 2:10 drive straight I-20 to I-26. There are still a handful of guys and gals who live in the Atlanta area and drive to Columbia. It’s not a bad drive. It’s putting mileage and wear and tear on a car, but it beats commuting via airplane. If I’m not mistaken, we have one or two who drive in from Savannah and Jax

Valid point. The car is always there to get you home at night too.

I'm in East Cobb. I figure I can drive to CAE in the same amount of time, maybe less, than driving to ATL, parking, waiting to depart, and flight time.
