I’d love to see something like a new 100 seat airplane. Current and future United pilots cover all of what the 76 seaters were doing, and possibly more, while the 76 seaters and 550 do what the 50 seaters flew. Don’t get the airline within an airline deal though. Just paint United on the side and go. It will be a while before they are in a position to place aircraft orders. This is more survival mode and trying to be in the best position possible coming out of this to either maintain, or gain market share.

Call me skeptical. But UA has bigger issues then thinking about spending Billions on a new fleet type... assuming they could even get a loan for aircraft right now... Lets hope they survive the next year. Even if they tried to add a new type. Thats 2 years out min (right now) before its flying pax’s...

I agree. Making aircraft orders isn’t even on the radar right now. When the dust settles I’d expect United to be more interested in picking up used aircraft that fit the current fleet from companies that don’t make it, rather than to go out and add another fleet type. I’d love to see mainline 100 seat jets, but I don’t expect it.

Again, they can't run the system without 50 seaters unless they replace them with larger RJs. Demand will return very quickly. No one is going to want to stay holed up for 18 months.

It is clear to most of us here at this point that you are either just delusional, or you have your head in the sand.

Either way, Honest best wishes to you and good luck.

LOL.
It’s always been deep. They should’ve been telling people to show up to recruiting events with a shovel and knee-high boots all these years.

Not delusional. Just looking at actual data instead of panicking and speculating. Nice try though.

Boy WhiskyWhisky you sure have changed your tone from a week or so ago when you called me a troll for saying 50 seat flying was going away. You would think your inside source would have told you Kirby felt that way before I did.

Escargot 04-11-2020 02:22 PM

Kirby, doubling down on his BS. If you're gonna lie, go big or go home. The guy's in the catbird seat now. Guv'mint money pouring in, able to renegotiate all contracts for lower wages, mighty mighty whipsaw. All he's gotta do is lock it all in at rock bottom and wait for the recovery. Unless he busts and it goes chapter 11, but I'm sure such a man has a plan for that scenario also.
