Default Reopen economy

I just signed a petition to reopen my state's economy. I would encourage others you do the same. Just Google reopen economy petition in your state.

It seems that many many more people had this thing and beat it or were asymptomatic and death tolls skewed by only testing the mortally ill. Time to get on with life.

Communicable diseases have killed 3.7 million worldwide this year. Of those, 120,000 are from coronavirus. That means 3% of communicable disease deaths. Check worldometers.info for yourself and let me know what you think.

Check out Iceland. We're gonna make it out of the woods, and sooner than later. Time to stop cowering and get out. Be smart, wash your hands, like every flu season. And tell our leaders the time has come!

Even if your governor "reopens the economy", people will still be nervous, will save their money and stay home more. It's going to be weak until people feel safe, and that will only happen when we actually have a plan to deal with the virus befitting a first world nation.

When it comes down to it, you cannot order people to go out and spend money in the economy, and they won't if they're scared.

Right, but if you reopen everything, the people that aren’t scared will return to the businesses that are currently closed. Any number of customers is greater than zero.

Sure, but you have to balance that with other things right? Scaling the economy back up will happen but if you tell people to go out too quickly, then they get sick, now the government has lost any credibility for the future. People will not trust them to know when it is or isn't safe.

People falling ill uncontrollably is in fact bad for the economy you know.

Also of course it's not the leading cause of death, idk who is saying it is.

Las Vegas has been decimated, I don't see it coming back this year. Even if they open up who's coming to Vegas?

Its pretty bad here right now. Rumor is when things are permitted to open it will be in phases. MGM is only opening two hotels at first and the others will slowly come online.

Good thing we have going is construction never stopped so that is still going strong.

if we can salvage some of the summer and make it to the fall I think it will bounce back. Conventions for the fall are still on and young people are not affected much by the flu so I an sure pools and nightclubs will be up and running for summer, only worry is if people will have money to spend. EDC is rescheduled for the fall and having 100k people in one area at once sweating and breathing all over each other will be a good test to see if this thing comes back for a second wave.

It's my opinion ( the opinion of a paramedic for the past 15 years) that the media has sensationalized the flu and this has definitely screwed up my career change timeline- however I am just going to roll with the punches and keep on working my normal job

They shouldn’t have trusted them in the first place!

I agree ... Save Wall Street and the economy. Skrew grandma and grandpa ... hail, skrew my parents ... they are all going to die sooner or later. Enough is enough.

Comical...time to move on with life?

Tell that to people who are scared stiff to go out or get on a plane or go to a crowded public place or those that have been financially crippled by this.

This country wasn’t ready for a pandemic before and got overwhelmed and you think post pandemic much will change in a few months? Highly unlikely.

Like I said in another post, this virus caught America with its pants down and butt bare and showed how our resources and leadership pretty much sucked even though we consider ourselves a first world nation.
