Default Company posting straight time

Straight time in open time. Maybe we can negotiate for 50% pay open time in the next contract? I enjoy volunteer work, it builds character and resume so when you grow up you can get a real job.

it’s a first offer. If it doesn’t get picked up, it will go higher.

plus, it’s in the contract. I don’t love it, but if people knew the damn contract, there wouldn’t be half the ignorant bs on here we used to see before C-19. I tell every new hire I meet in the crew room. Know The Contract. Whether or not you voted yes or no is irrelevant, it’s what it is, it’s your responsibility to understand it. The straight time stuff is literally spelled out in 3.B.1.

If people are smart, they’ll leave it in open time, then it’ll go to 150 or CTL as needed. Though let’s be honest, CTL is a fancy memory that we’ll be telling new hires about for at least a year, probably more.

Kind of low balls us though. I mean if a new guy (or anyone) picks it up without noticing. Seems like it’s a shot for them to get the work covered at a lower rate we were told we would always get for picking up.

Do you guys even think before you post or do you just enjoy the attention from posting conspiracy theories? There's enough negativity going on without your plea for attention based on your lack of understanding of the actual facts. The straight time posting is for a list of very specific trips that come open, and under our previous contract, those trips did not even have to be posted at all. With our reduced flying, some people may actually want to pick up some additional flying to go above guarantee even if it is at straight time. Obviously, if they can't cover it, the company can change it to 150% or 200%. If we get Junior manned into it, it's automatically 200%. If you aren't interested, keep your mouth shut and let those of us that are happy to have something additional to pick up go and do that extra flying above guarantee.

As long as the union is monitoring each trip to ensure they are only posting straight time trips from the approved catagories I don’t see the issue.

Thanks for all the replies, gents. It helped inform my view. My apologies for the negativity on the initial post. God knows there's more than enough floating around. ZW is a good place to work with great people. Dirty side down!
