Completely agreed, the rule is not in place to punish people who are legitimately eating or drinking, the rule is to punish those who are actively trying to circumvent the rules that the company puts in place. The amount of people who are trying to be uncompliant in this thread is concerning. People who are noncompliant with any company policy that is not explicitly dangerous belongs nowhere near a cockpit.

I’m worried about the continued survival of our company when we cannot follow the most basic requests of our mainline partner.
I just watched the required United mask policy video. They aren’t messing around with this deal. You get one warning for your first offense, followed by a termination notice for your second, so if people want to push it, I say let them. Just think of it as furlough mitigation with no cost to the pilot group.

This policy won't punish people who are legitimately eating or drinking, it will just get people who are trying to circumvent the rules.
So you're saying the company targeted these two pilots and followed them around the terminal to get proof......
No other way to gather that type of evidence without specifically following them around; so they were targeted.

and apparently they GOT that proof. I’m sure two junior FOs would be very grateful if these guys Darwined themselves off the seniority list.

And the options are still:

1. The Hat.
2. A beard.
3. Tattoos.
4. A four year degree.
5. Wearing a mask.

The choice to wear or not wear the mask has really exposed the garbage people of our society.

What does a four year degree or tattoos have to do with anything? The chief LCA has tattoos on his forearms.

Go get a tattoo and cover it up. just like wearing a mask will cover your beard. Wear a hat and cover your ponytail or man bun while your at it.

Following does not equal targeted. If they were targeted it was because they were being foolish by not pulling their masks up after each sip.
