Recalls

Looks like 27 are coming back Nov 1st.

colonials13 10-02-2020 04:19 PM

Excellent news

flypilot 10-02-2020 05:46 PM

Curious how you know that? I was in the Airman Trainee program (had just passed the tech interview and was waiting for a class date when the brown stuff hit the fan). Great news that people might be getting un-furloughed, I know it's a long ways off from when my number might get called (if ever) but gives me a tiny glimmer of hope. What was it, 130 that got furloughed? So approximately 103 remaining?

A new vacancy bid is coming out showing 27 recalls.

137 on furlough.

Because it was in a company announcement and I know what max backfill means.

BE76pilot 10-02-2020 07:04 PM

I don't post much, but let's be clear about this being 20% brought back basically immediately, and not because we had to jr man or anything over integration as I thought might happen. Also IAD growing while MKE shrinking. Doesn't seem awful on face-value. Let's hope it holds.

prt135 10-05-2020 12:01 PM

Looks like they’re hiring a recruiter. Could this mean there’s a big uptick in flying coming they now know about?

Also hiring LCAs and all other positions in the training department.

pangolin 10-05-2020 02:29 PM

Looks like somebody is getting some shiny (as in bare aluminum) "new" (older than dirt) 700's from Mesa.

I hope so but I hope not . Those things will be a maintenance nightmare. Old and beat up, worn out and guaranteed to break at an outstation.
Mesa held those things together with gorilla glue and duct tape.

tallpilot 10-05-2020 03:48 PM

The Go-Jet birds won't be any better.

Further recalls and hiring potentially restarting sooner than expected, perhaps?

I love hearing little bits of positivity like this. Good work all.

For whiskey’s sake I hope they came from anywhere other than Mesa.... Mesa’s MX program is a nightmare and I’d hate to see that nightmare get out on whiskey while y’all try to get into another market.

Actually Mx on the 700 is quite good. Those guys in IAD know their stuff.

What are you talking about. Mesa has been a winner of the coveted FAA Diamond Award for Maintenance Excellence in the past. JO’s acceptance speech was humbling and brought a tear to many people’s eyes

Did TG Director of Pilot Recruitment leave along with EG? (She was probably one of the best recruiters out there as a former CA.) Both are cool folks--hate to see them go if that is the case.

Yes, I believe they were both let go unfortunately.

More flying =? More recalls

Any idea how much flying we picked up? What does that mean numbers-wise for recalls?

No additional recalls in November (at least not announced yet). I think we'll have more in December now though.

FLICA is showing a vacancy opening on November 12. Has the company posted what this vacancy is for on CSS (or via an announcement)?

Here’s hoping the 700/550 for you guys.

It’s just a placeholder. Basically how the cycle goes is

previous bid closes

a few days later

previous bid awarded, nothing underneath.

a few days later

a vacancy called NEXT opens up, with a meaningless date and time. It’s a placeholder.

?????? Amount of time

NEXT gets renamed to Vxxxxxxx, date and time still a placeholder, or it disappears entirely.

soon after,

CSS announcement with the vacancy notice comes out and simultaneously the flica vacancy gets updated to accurate times and dates.

Oh? I hope we keep all 20 of our 700’s. With our new 175’s, that would be a big growth.

UA Scope kills that idea. They have to be 550s.

You know exactly what I meant. It’s still a 700 airframe. Smart***.

flypilot 10-17-2020 10:41 AM

Understand no recalls for the month (yet), but can you tell how much additional flying there is? Curious to see how much (if any) increase there was.

My point is that so long as there’s somebody else who can do it, Mesa has no chance at 550 flying. Air Wisconsin is a better fit, it keeps single fleet per airline. Additionally for Mesa as a company the lease payments on the 700s are guaranteed by United. It makes Mesa more money to lease then out and there’s no conversion expense.

Why recall pilots when hundreds of hours is being picked up by non-furloughed pilots.

Do you have proof? I’m not by any means accusing you of lying. I have just been really curious how much open time has been picked up versus how much has been assigned to reserves.

You can look at the reserve grid on css and see if the trip went to a reserve. You can also look at a trip and it shows you other crew members. Once the trip disappears you can see who picked it up or who it was assigned to by searching the other crew.

I can look at CSS right now...furloughed. I'm glad flying is picking up and I am hopeful for more recalls of course.

Block hours went from 6604 in Oct to 6882 for Nov. If that's what your looking for.

That's a 4.2% increase, not what I was hoping for, but at least its heading in the right direction and not the other way.

Right side top of the screen says reports, then click reserves list.
