Sorry, but if you have no recent experience you are less valuable to the company than someone who does have recent experience. Hiring is all a numbers game before you get to the interview, so yeah, they're going to pick others before you. It'll be like that everywhere.

However, I can fly planes. Assuming I can’t is a bad decision and assuming that currency determines ability is another bad decision. I’m a great pilot and I get along with everyone. Poor recruiting strategy.
Offer a cjo in response. Suggest currency work. Giving suggestions to be attractive is great policy.
Cold shoulder strategy is a turn off and valuable talent is lost because of it.

Appreciate the tip. I worked for eagle for 8 years. I’m familiar. I walked away as a protected pilot to raise my sons.

Sorry that you're in that situation, but your options are either to wait, or find a way to get flying currency.

To clarify, I'm not saying you are a bad pilot. It's just that even regional jobs will be competitive for a few more months, so you need every advantage you can get. I'm just saying that realistically you will need current experience to be considered until things calm down a little.

I appreciate the help and clarification. I was referring to recruitment strategy in my previous post, no worries, nothing personal. I think that its a good strategy to respond to candidates who take the time to apply. I get it though. Time is money and everyone has a job to do. If responding to candidates that are not qualified is not a thing, than tough luck for people like me.
However, I need to know what I need to do to make myself attractive so I can get it done. Flying pistons around is not an indicator that a person can get through a 121 program, we all know that. Dropping 5k for currency work at SIMCOM is a huge gamble with no cjo at the other end of it. Thanks again!

Respectfully, I’ve never had an airline reach out to me after I’ve applied with feedback on how to improve my chances. I just submitted and waited (and hoped). I wish you the best of luck though, as it looks like hiring is happening everywhere and I’m sure you’ll find a home soon! Good luck!
I appreciate the responses and apologize for going off subject. Good luck with the new cert. All the best.

I’m sure the training department will thank the recruiting department on this one. He knows he can fly after years away. I don’t think he has done much research on Air Wisconsin’s training program and the success rate of those who have spent years away.

You're right. Training here can be brutal even if you are current. In my experience guys who haven't flown in a few years have a 50-ish % chance of getting through

Yup. It’s best to not treat an initial type ride as an IFR refresher course. There’s a reason they like at least some recency of experience- I’ve noticed my scan get significantly slower during the covid down times. I have no idea how people think they can take a decade off and just hop back in the saddle like it’s nothing.
