One fact we know for sure is Gas Prices are skyrocketing and are to only get worse this summer, and the years ahead. Everyone here turns a blind eye on that fact. What good are 700s and 900s if they are too costly to operate? We know what happens to 200s by a brief history lesson.

You know something we could do, allow electricity to compete directly with gas as the transportation energy source. Nothing makes prices go down like good old fashioned competition.

First of all, I don't know where you live but it's not more expensive than 2019 where I live. Second of all, everything in that article suggests that market forces are why prices are going up. More people driving, more people flying...I suppose we could crush demand again, but it seems like that's not what you want.

One example, when there is a fear of a market disruption or shortage of crude oil, gasoline prices at the pump jump up. Your statement seems to imply if a lot of people will suddenly switch to electric cars that week, the price will suddenly drop. The first happens in a few days. The second takes years.
