If not, attracting new hires with that hanging over everyone’s heads could be difficult.

Having a contact from United doesn’t guarantee block hours from United. Just ask anyone who used to fly for Expressjet. All the contract does is guarantee the price that United pays AWAC for the block hours flown.

Zw is a descent place to work . Does management always have our best interest heart? Of course not , but that’s just reality anywhere you go .
The main thing here is old , tired ac without a definite plan in place going forward. Adding the 7/9 is good , but unless another carrier goes under or they buy someone, there isn’t any room at any of the big 3 for 70 plus Seat ac . So that’s an issue all in it’s own.
Other than that , healthcare is good, schedules are crappy and scheduling will test your temperment more often than not .
Once again , just my opinion.
United is pretty good of telling people what they want to hear right up to the gallows steps. They pushed XJT as a pathway to United until the announcement that they were being let go. Considering that they currently have a large aircraft order and the news is reporting a possible 200 aircraft addition to that, I’d say that you’re not pessimistic, but realistic about the threat of only flying 200’s. Like you say, scope is maxed out, leaving no room to pick up any 70/76 seat flying unless another company fails, or if a legacy decides to shuffle the cards for some reason. From what I read, the contract with Air Wisconsin expires in early 2023 and getting that extended seems unlikely. I can see how that information could make people accept other employment if given a choice. Having to start at the bottom somewhere else in less than 2 years unless the contract is extended is a big threat.

Yeah I get that and bad on me for probably spending too much time digging up and piecing together information on these forums - it's a good resource, but unless you know someone at a company well already you are stuck doing doomsday research on the forum or rainbows and butterflies on the company sites. Oh well, worst case it gets pretty entertaining at times.
