Default Air Wisconsin Question

I was wondering if someone could give me a realistic estimate of what a new hire can expect to make his or her first few years at AWAC. I've read all the breakdowns in pay...just curious what the W2 might read at the end of the year for an "average" line pilot.

I understand this can be a tough estimate, especially with the current changes in the industry (upgrade times etc.), but I would appreciate an educated guess or two.

Cheers

I would say between 20-24 grand first year, not including perdiem. This of course depends on reserve time (which right now is non existant).

Thanks biz. Another question...what is the max range/time from the airport when sitting reserve? Any exceptions?

2 hours. Only exception is for long call reserves, which is 48 hour call out. Those days are awarded in a relief line, which regular reserves probly wont see.

Last year I was on 3rd year F/O pay and grossed about $38K, excluding Per Diem. And this was not loading up my lines with extra pay. In fact, there were many months when I was on minimum pay.

The pay at AWAC is not bad if you can put up with the rest of the BS.

I have picked up a 3-day trip at the end of the month which will put the better part of $900 on my August 15th paycheck. For just those 3 days.

Post any more questions. I am tipsy and ready to answer them all 'til I pass out!!

Fair enough...what type of BS are you refering to? How many days would I average away from home each month? Would it be safe to assume I could get either DCA or PHL for my first base?

Hope you're still with me!

The BS is company-internal and probably not that much different ultimately than most of the other 'good' companies.

You will expect a minimum of 12 days off per month. You can expect one of 3 bases initially, ORF, PHL or DCA. If you request DCA and PHL ahead of ORD I would bet you a Point Special that you will get one of those two.

If you are from the Northeast United States, AWAC is not a bad place.

The BS I am talking about is actually not that bad. The key to avoiding the BS is showing up to work on time. Flying safely. Etc.

We have a terrific pilot group of professionals. Our training dept. is tops. You will not be asked to fly unsafe airplanes.

You do what you are hired to do and trained to do and there is little BS. "Fly Safely. Fly the Contract" is our motto.

Just stay away from the internal pilot forum...... A cesspool of negativity...

You'll know me by my cheesehead/German/Swiss accent!! Our callsign is: "Wiscahnsin xxx", not "Wes Consin xxx".

Be sure to ask for Packer scores while on Approach into LGA too!!

About a year after flying IAD-LGA I was cleared to the "Verazano Bridge and fly up the Hudson".

I answered in my best dumba$$, WI redneck accent, "HuH?, where's dat bridge fur Wiscahnsin 123?"

A Delta dude said (cracking up), "It's the one with the green lights!".

We'll have fun!! The NE sucks!! But it's not so bad either....

And yes, we do know where LGA is!

I'm on pace to gross at or just over 44k in my second year, including per-diem at Wis-CAN-sin.

The folks in BOS have a ball with that...
