Default Air Wisconsin (ALPA Pilot Group Profile)

Quick question. . . ALPA guys, please chime in. More importantly, ALPA and AWI guys chime in.

http://www.alpa.org/DesktopModules/A...3052&Tabid=256

In that link, towards the bottom, in the infinity and beyond section it states the following:

"AWI Management approached the MEC earlier this year to discuss creating a B-Scale wage rates to ensure future growth and to bid on additional flying with airlines other than US Airways. (B scales are lower wages and work rules that would apply to all new pilots hired after secondary wage rates and work rules were approved.)"

It's nice to see a section of ALPA has grown some balls. I know this is on an ALPA related document, so I don't know if it holds its worth in weight like gold does, hence my question.

AWE / ALPA guys, can you confirm that AWI Management has halted the plan for a B-Scale?

Other regional guys (ASA, SKW, COM, CHQ, Mesa), have your respective companies started talk of a B-scale for new hires? What is your respective union (if/if not ALPA) doing to hinder this ploy from management?

Thanks guys. . . keep it civilized, you know who you are.

Yes its true, the company did approach the MEC about B-scales. From what I heard they wanted first year pilots to start out at $15/hr - the same as a great lakes 1900 FO.

The B-scale would also apply to pilots who upgraded, they would be on the B-scale captain wage.

It was dismissed without ever being voted on, thank god.

Thanks Fosters. I'm a little sad to see that you're the only one to reply to this. I'd really like to get the scope of this issue in terms of the other regional airlines as well.

Could this be the beginning of another round of pay cuts?

Exactly. I don't see it ever getting past any carriers MEC, but it's just amazing that the airlines would even bother.

Yup, ridiculous.

ALPA needs to grow more balls and spread it through the regional world. It won't happen though. The old good ol' boy seniors within ALPA care more about their green grass and 500k mansions than us little guys. The mentality "We had to deal with it. . . so will you," just doesn't sit well with me.

2 year upgrades *probably* won't happen but as it stands now they are just under 3 years. $40k second year is possible depending on how you bid. If you go for high credit lines it's doable, even not including per diem. If he/she was on the 146 those FO's were making in the $50's. They are gone now, however...
