Edv/awa
Hi all,
A bit of a sidebar from the current topic.
I'm curious (from those of you currently at Air Willie) of how you feel re: your current contract and QOL from those that you may know at EDV. They objectively have the long term pay advantage but was more interested in the soft-pay and QOL advantages at AWA. From things like crew rooms (which reads to be abhorrent) to medical (reads to be incredible) to rigs, scheduling, do you enjoy your routes/overnights, etc. etc...
I'm approaching that magic number and have to start seriously considering which of these two to go to (they're the top two IMHO). I've done a fair bit research (search function works) and have crunched the numbers but I'm reaching out to gain some insight into the intangibles/true QOL on the line.
Regardless of where I end up, I promise to bring a bottle of JW Blue.
Thanks all.

Flow to United, new airframes, DEN base, pay raise to something between Republic and Endeavor rates, Chipotle catering in the crew rooms, and SAP. /s

I'm not an expert, but I've heard the reason the CRJ used to be life limited was heavy checks at, and I'm probably not right on the exact timing, 30,000 hours. Most companies figured the cost of the checks/repairs would outweigh the value of the airplane. However, we've sent a few through the process and it cost much less than anticipated.
I'm no company cheerleader but accurate info helps everyone.

You are trying to quantify something that perhaps can't be. I think you will enjoy either regional and it's looking like the progression will continue to flow up unless something bad happens. That being said, yes EDV has slightly better pay rates but as you mentioned there are other factors. (I think I would probably make less at EDV at my seniority). I personally would give a lot of weight to living in base. I have been driving to work for the last 13 years after commuting and it's worlds better. (Partly why I am still here I guess). As a junior FO you have more flexibility in picking up open time etc.
Crews are great overall. One other thing I considered when coming here was the pilot group size. We only have ~600 pilots so you only need 300 give or take to get out of your way to upgrade. Upgrade is now less than 3 years I believe. Overnights are in flux with the UAL changeover but traditionally we have had some good ones (YOW) and some not so good ones, (FAY). I have found that overnights are what you make of them. If you have a good crew and some initiative you can have fun almost anywhere.

I was offered day of. They do fingerprinting/drug testing the same day and I don't think they do those unless you have an offer. Things may have changed since then.
