Alaska Q1 earnings call today...
We also need to keep our – we survive, as an airline the size we are, by keeping our fares low. So the needle we've been able to thread the last couple of contracts with the pilots, that we will continue to try to thread, is how do we come up with a deal that honors them for the fantastic work that they do, while keeping this company strong and in a way that we can keep growing. that's what we're about and that's what I have to say about that press release. Ben, anything you want to add to that?

They know their pilot group well. Too many in our ranks still drink the Kool-Aid. Until we are truly unified and demand an industry-leading contract, they will continue to push us around.
Until then, just be thankful that you get Positive Space Travel (PST) passes. WOO HOO!

Typical Angle Lake shenanigans... They will not pay until they have to.

Seems like BM, BT and other merchants of "information" have an agreement with their BOD that no raises will occur until the absolute last minute. While they speak to us straight-faced, they are holding the line similar to someone with a military security clearance who simply can't or won't address specifics about a certain topic. I'm not referring to the confidentiality of the nuts and bolts of the TA numbers, I'm referring to their overall strategy of stalling. They mask their stalling tactics by speaking of a mystical "process" as if its a high-level machination that we simpletons don't understand.
We get it. You're stalling because you don't want to pay us what we are worth. Management bonuses next quarter will be higher because you delayed the raises. Congratulations, the pilots no longer trust management and our respect for management's ethical compass is shot.
If I understand this correctly, arbitration is binding but mediation is not. Does that mean AAG can and will drag out the mediation "process" and then reject the mediators recommendations? Probably. Think of all the time they can add to their sacred process with actual arbitration.
Is anyone feeling exasperated and hoping that the first TA is worthy of ratification? The company sure hopes so.
Or should the first TA be rejected on principle alone--since management is not trustworthy? I dunno, maybe we can tell them "its a process". BTW, at the beginning of this process, I was an optimist.
The only thing that is transparent is their blood lust to clench every dime out of this deal. This is their payoff for sacrificing workforce morale. Nice work guys, you're on target with your process.
If the company wants to make a show of good faith, make the TA pay retro.

Fortunately, I believe in miracles and there is hope. More importantly, hope has absolutely nothing to do with this management's or ALPA's talent or power. Karma is a biahtch and they'll get a huge dose of it in the near future. And it's not going to be in the form of a job action by this pilot group so let's set this straight. Greed and evil cannot and will not be triumphant for ever. The storm is on the horizon.
