Default Section 25 and Scope

Well, the SLI is behind us. It's water under the bridge. How is this pilot group now going to become unified to get the contract we want?

Section 25 needs to be rewritten and we NEED to get scope. Most pilots tend to gravitate towards pay rates, but those are no good if we're spending more time at work and have ZERO job security.

We all need to do our part to educate those among us who are apathetic and drink the company Kool-Aid. Yes, they still walk among us. These same folks are the ones who usually blame the "union".

The rank and file pilots are the union. We elect reps to get things done for US. It's that simple. The rank and file pilots need to be active and involved. Attend meetings and/or communicate what you want to your reps. Read the comms from the negotiating committee, LEC, & MEC. If you're not getting the comms via E-Mail, get a hold of someone.

Somehow the expectation is there for the MEC leadership to tell the pilot group what to do. IT DOESN'T work that way and JW's E-Mail from when he became MEC chair even said as much.

Time for all of us to wake up and do what it takes to get the contract we deserve.

Do your job and allow other to do theirs. Fly the contract.

Rant over...

How about full rework of work rules? I agree scope should be number one, but close behind is work rules. What about trip rigs (more than one), duty rigs, min credit per day, max number of hours for lines (or PBS), line construction fixes( no 12 days off), some equation for adequate reserve coverage so you can have more flexibility, no 4 48 hour periods in a month, lose the rule where you can't fly a transcon before or after another leg. I could go on....

P.S.- We should trade all this for our ****ty crew meals =P

We are so behind the rest of the industry that nothing should be traded. However, the company will never give us anything as long as their operation keeps on humming along; the pilots need to stop giving high fives to the passengers, stop putting up with our horrible pairings and most importantly stop giving a f@@@ if the company makes a profit until we get, at the least, an industry standard contract.

What an absolute @ss clown. That guy should be ashamed of himself, embarrassing all of us like that. We're pilots, not cheerleaders. Is he gonna start doing backflips next? Whoever that is TOTD/Y.

God how I pity the FO that has to sit next to that fool

Academy grad? Those are the ones that queue my interest every time. Don’t know what the hell that place does to individuals but it sure fabricates some strange creatures in the 121 world.

Sweet Baby Jesus! Are you sure it was Air Force? I know a Navy guy who does things like that. He even blows a bosun’s whistle over the PA before he taxis.

http://https://www.seattletimes.com/...bring-layoffs/

In the company’s second quarter earnings call that month, Alaska Air Chief Operating Officer Ben Minicucci said that to cut costs “we’re going to attack overhead,” and he identified three areas for cost reductions: “healthcare, crew hotel costs and management headcounts.”

May as well put us on Obamacare and up in a Motel 6
